Part Four: The Mask of Mercy

1. They offered gifts from flesh and thread,
2. With holy hands and hearts well-bled.
3. A mask they made, both bright and wide,
4. To crown the One they deified.

5. Its hues would gleam in sacred light,
6. A blessing veiled from mortal sight.
7. A thousand colors softly ran—
8. A face too kind to frighten man.

9. She wore it gently, let it shine,
10. A sign that all they feared was fine.
11. And when it turned, and when it spoke,
12. It cloaked the truth in fragrant smoke.

13. Its shifting shape, its solemn glow,
14. Spoke words their minds could bear to know.
15. A gift, a grace, a hallowed sign—
16. That She was good. That She was kind.

17. No terror now, no awful dread—
18. Just holy awe and trust instead.
19. For what they saw was not disguise,
20. But God made warm to meet their eyes.
